Autumn tips

Jet Washing & Gutter Tips

Keeping hard surfaces and gutters clear is one of the simplest ways to avoid bigger, more expensive problems later.

Clear gutters as leaves fall

Autumn leaf fall is the single most common cause of blocked gutters — checking them every few weeks through autumn avoids overflow and damp problems.

Sweep paths and patios regularly

Wet fallen leaves left on paving become slippery and start to stain the surface — regular sweeping keeps paths safe and looking better for longer.

Fit gutter guards before leaf fall peaks

A simple mesh guard fitted before the heaviest leaf fall reduces how often gutters need clearing right through autumn and winter.

Check for early signs of a blocked downpipe

Water running down the outside of a gutter rather than through the downpipe during rain is usually the first visible sign of a blockage starting.

Good to know

Jet Wash & Gutter Clearing — your questions

How often should gutters be cleared?

Usually once or twice a year, and more often if you have trees nearby. We can set up a regular reminder so it is never forgotten.

Do you clean paths and patios too?

Yes — we jet wash moss, algae and debris from paths and patios to keep them safe and smart.

Do you work at height safely?

Yes. All gutter work is carried out safely and is fully insured, so you never need to get up a ladder yourself.

What actually happens if gutters are left blocked?

Water has nowhere to go except over the edge, which soaks fascias and brickwork below and, over time, can lead to damp and rot. Clearing them once or twice a year is a small job that avoids a much bigger repair bill later.

Do gutters need clearing even if I don't have trees nearby?

Yes — moss, roofing grit and windblown debris build up in gutters regardless of nearby trees, just more slowly. It's still worth a check at least once a year even on a tree-free property.
